Earlier last week he also made several records his.
India might have made it to the WTC final but it wouldn’t have been possible without this man: Ravichandran Ashwin. After being adjudged the man of the series for 32 wickets and 192 runs (which included a century at his homeground Chennai) Ashwin became the only Indian to take more than 30 wickets twice in a series. He accounted for 31 wickets in 2015 against South Africa. He also picked his 30th Test fifer at the Narendra Modi Stadium as he accounted for: Zak Crawley, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Dan Lawrence and Jack Leach.
With this feat, he equaled James Anderson’s record and inched closer to Anil Kumble’s 35 fifer in Test cricket. Besides this, his all-round show (192 runs and 32 wickets) also propelled him into an elusive club full of the likes of Imran Khan, Ian Botham, Richie Benaud and George Giffen. These are the only cricketers who had registered a double of picking 30 wickets and scoring a hundred runs in a series.
